While we do believe futons are some of the greatest things since sliced bread, we do realize that they have one problem: they have an annoying tendency to slide off the futon frame.
The solution is here: Futon Grips Strips.
Futon Grips Strips do exactly what they say -- they "grip" the futon mattress, keeping it firmly in place.
We sell two different kinds of Futon Grips Strips: Foam and Rubber.
Foam Futon Grip Strips
Foam Futon Grip Strips are thin strips of foam with a sticky back that is stuck directly on the futon frame. The bottom part of the foam adheres to the futon frame so it doesn't move and the top of the strips holds the futon in place by the resistance created between the foam and the futon as they touch. Pros: They work great (better than the rubber grip strips).
Cons: You are sticking them directly to the futon frame, albeit the hidden portion of the seat and back decks. If you do not want to stick something onto your frame, try the rubber grip strips.
Recommended Uses: Thicker futons, especially over-stuffed and cotton-free futon mattresses.
Reminder: With any cotton-less futon mattress purchase from WebFuton.com, we give you a FREE pair of Foam Futon Grips Strips.
Rubber Futon Grip Strips
A thin piece of textured rubber that lies on the seat deck and holds the futon in place by the friction created between the futon frame, the grip strip and the futon mattress. Get instructions on using our Rubber Futon Grip Strips here.
Pros: They are not stuck on the frame so are easy to remove and will not mar your frame in any way.
Cons: They do not work as well as the foam grip strips. Buy a second Rubber Grip Strip for the back deck to improve performance.
Recommended Uses: Thinner futons; cotton and cotton-and-foam futon mattresses.
Reminder: With any cotton or cotton & foam futon mattress purchase from WebFuton.com, we give you a FREE Foam Futon Grips Strip.
Foam Futon Grip Strip Instructions
Take your mattress off your futon frame and convert it into the bed position. Place one grip strip along the length of the seat deck as close as possible to the front edge the futon. Place the other grip strip along the length of the back deck as close as possible to the back edge of the futon (the top of the back deck). Replace your futon mattress and convert the futon frame back into a couch. Check out our advice for the best way to convert a futon below.
Rubber Futon Grip Strip Instructions
Remove your mattress from the futon frame and convert it into the bed position. Spread a grip strip out on the seat deck. Replace your futon mattress on the frame and then convert the futon frame back into a couch. A second Rubber Grip Strip placed on the back deck will help performance. Check out our advice for the best way to convert a futon below.
The best way to go from bed to couch is to have a person on each arm of the frame lift the back deck up into the sitting position while pushing their fist into the crease of the futon mattress. Converting a frame in this manner will help lock the futon mattress into place -- especially if using our Grip Strips -- and give it a nice crisp fold at the center.
