Futon Mattresses and the State of California

California State Fire Codes are stricter than those of the other 49 states. Because of this, a futon shipped to a California address must be specifically made to meet these fire codes.

None of our Natural Fiber futons -- the Fabulous, Fab Plus, Wool Deluxe, Wool Jr. and Premium -- can be shipped to a California address. They are handmade by a small, regional company in Missouri which does not have the resources required to pass the California fire test.

Our hi-tech futons CAN be specially made and shipped to California addresses. These mattresses are:

The catch? It takes longer since it is a special order.

If you live in California you have two options for delivery:

• Standard California delivery which takes 3-4 weeks. Basically we special order your mattress with our weekly stock order. When it arrives at our warehouse, we then ship it to you.

• Express California delivery which takes 2 weeks and costs more ($30-$60 depending on the mattress). Our manufacturer will ship your mattress directly to you, cutting the time of delivery roughly in half.

Unfortunately either way is not our preferred solution for California mattresses, but our hands are tied by the powers that be.
