Strong &
Dense Wood
A superior
futon frame needs to be made out of great wood to stand up to years
of use. Be sure any frame you purchase is made of a dense wood like
cherry, oak, ash, maple, beech, Tulip Poplar or southern yellow pine. We strongly
warn you against weak woods like white pine, Black Poplar, aspen, alder,
or Indonesian or Chinese wood-species. These woods are not strong
enough to withstand the great stresses required of a convertible
piece of furniture, or to hold the fasteners used to connect them.
We
have sold tens of thousands of futons and we know which woods work
well and which don't. All of our futon frames are made out of time-tested
woods which will last for years without breaking or coming apart.
Superior
Design and Construction
Be
sure the futon frame you select has metal-on-metal connectors. Lagbolts
or screws that go directly into the wood at the major junctions
will weaken over time. The conversion mechanism must operate smoothly
and easily.
Be
sure that the seat and back slats of the futon couch are not made
out of a weaker, secondary wood. Many manufacturers cut the cost
of making futon frames by using pine or aspen slats which can break
or crack under normal use. All of our futon frames use the same
high-quality materials throughout their whole construction.
Unfortunately
most imported frames suffer from substandard craftsmanship and components,
and the manufacturers frequently have unsafe work environments and
bad environmental practices. The only frames that meet our high
standard of quality, strength and craftsmanship are made in North
America and Europe. These futon frames have gone through years of
rigorous real-life testing and will provide comfortable sitting
and sleeping for years to come.
Great Looks
and Styling
Strength
isn't everything ? looks are important too! The right proportions,
clean lines, a smooth, high quality finish make the difference between
a piece of furniture that looks great in your living room and one
that's just okay. We offer a wide selection of frame styles for
different tastes and price ranges. View our different models in
